Quota of Course Content

I am very sorry that I don't know we have a quota in Course Content. I had created a folder of Fanny in Course content and there are a lot of sub-folders and files. Now, I want to delete one of a large sub-folder "Image Editing 3 April 2008" which is in Fanny folder. Unfortunately, I cannot throw it into recycle bin without permission. Do you know how to get permission? If I do not delete it, other classmates cannot upload their files to Course Content since the quota is nearly full.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Week 12: Technology in testing: the present and the future

My Reflection

This is a good article to give me new insights about advantages and disadvantages of computer-based language tests.

I know there are many advantages of computer-based language tests, it is a growing trend towards computer-based language tests in advanced countries. I have some questions about computer-based language tests. Is it fair to computer illiterate people if they take computer-based language tests? Suppose they control keyboard or mouse unskillfully. And they feel nervous when they are facing the computer. All these affect their performance on computer-based language tests.

I doubt how to use IT to assess the aspects of the speaking ability of second /foreign language learners of English. I think candidates have different performance when they interact with examiner and when they have over the telephone in ‘interaction’ with a computer.

In my opinions, both computer-based language tests and pencil-paper-tests have their advantages and disadvantages. I had experienced in taking a computer-based accounting test and a pencil-and-paper accounting test before. Since the computer-based accounting test was used a particular accounting software, candidates had to take a computer training course before the test. It means candidates should have both accounting knowledge and a degree of computer literacy in order to take the computer-based accounting test. If I did not take a computer training course, I could not take a pass of the computer-based accounting test.

Multimedia

Multimedia is a very useful in teaching and learning. I was very excited to edit a photo with several layer by using Photoshop. It was interesting and beautiful. I alos felt very happy to learn how to link with several websites.

Week 11: Learning Management Systems: The wrong place to start learning

My Reflection

I think Learning Management Systems( LMS) are still useful for certain learning functions. Though one tool will never do it all in this type of model, the tool at least provides the interaction to learner and instructor. In future, the tool may provide more functions to learners.

I agree that informal learning takes place any time and anywhere in rapidly changing environments. We always learn things through informal learning such as trial-and-error, observing others or asking someone help, etc.

In my daily life, I always use the search engines of Yahoo, Google, wikis to find information what I need.

As LMS has many disadvantages, LMS vendors should think how to improve it and fit the learner needs.
